UPDATE: Driver dies after early-morning wreck on I-40

UPDATE: Amarillo police tells us 65 year-old Jackie Maloney Kenney died as a result of her injuries early Wednesday afternoon. An autopsy has been ordered, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

UPDATE: Officials in Lubbock tell us the driver, 65 year-old Jackie Maloney Keeney is currently listed in critical conditions at a burn unit.

Amarillo, TX - One person is seriously injured in an early-morning accident on Interstate 40. Police say at around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, the driver of a car struck the side of an 18-wheeler, then veered into the median near I-40 and Coulter, where the vehicle caught fire.

The driver, 65 year-old Jackie Maloney Keeney was taken to an Amarillo hospital, then air-lifted to a Lubbock burn center to treat the injuries she received in the fire.

The APD Traffic Investigation Squad continues to investigate this crash.
