One person was taken to the hospital in connection with the "loud boom" that was heard around West Texas early Friday morning.
We're told the person left the Oxy site on Friday but later met emergency officials at Holiday Hill Road and Highway 349 where he was then taken to Midland Memorial Hospital.
The Martin County Sheriff's Office tells NewsWest 9 that complications with a pressure valve on a natural gas tank caused the big explosion.
It happened 10 to 15 miles north of Midland on Highway 349 in Martin County at the Oxy Oil Company.
Since the explosion did not ignite, fire crews were not needed.
Emergency personnel from Martin and Midland County were at the scene until 6 a.m. Friday morning assessing the situation.
The person transported worked for oxy as the injuries were considered non-life threatening.
At this time, the person's name has not yet been released.
