HOBBS, N.M. - A suspicious package found in Hobbs put three people from North Carolina behind bars.

44-year-old David Boles, 30-year-old Gina Helms and 50-year-old Charles Miller were all arrested at the Days Inn Hotel on North Marland on Wednesday.

The arrests came after ups called police about a package that was addressed to Boles.

It had an opened package of "silly putty" with 17 grams of heroin hidden inside.

Police tracked Boles down to the hotel where he was called about the package and arrested without any problems after trying to walk off with it.

He told authorities that the drugs were for him, Helms and Miller who were staying in a room with a five-year-old child.

Helms and Miller were cuffed in the room and a search turned up materials to use heroin.

All three criminals will be facing child abuse charges and Boles is facing charges of drug trafficking.
