HOBBS, N.M. - A Hobbs man was caught with cocaine early Tuesday morning and tried to pin it on his mother.
22-year-old Ricky Mendoza is facing several charges including possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers pulled him over in the 1200 block of East Llano Street after noticing that his license plate was expired.
Mendoza was arrested for driving with a suspended license.
He was hit with the other charges when officers found a plastic bag of crack cocaine inside his hat.
According to the affidavit, Mendoza told them, "That's my mom's."
Officers also found a crack pipe in his car.
