BIG SPRING- Smokey black windows, a beaten down door and a roof that looks ready to collapse. Big Spring Fire Chief Craig Ferguson explained the damage left behind after an overnight fire.

"At about 2 a.m. this (Saturday) morning, we got a call for a structure fire in the 2000 block of Johnson Street. When the crews arrived, they found a house fully engulfed with fire," Ferguson said.

According to Ferguson, the left side of the house became engulfed and spread to the yard. The fire came across the brush and hit a neighbors home. The extension on the house became completely charred.

"Why it spread to the house next door is because there was a little bit of high brush and grass. Because it was an abandoned house, it hadn't been mowed in awhile and so that's why it spread to the next door neighbor," Ferguson said.

Fire officials still don't know the cause of the fire and arson hasn't been ruled out.
