MIDLAND - Despite a recent ruling to block parts of the state's new abortion law, the Planned Parenthood in Midland will not be reopening anytime soon.
Officials say the closing of that location had nothing to do with the controversial law.
But the only abortion clinic in West Texas, which is in Lubbock, has started taking appointments again.
That's after a federal judge struck down part of the new restrictions that would have closed their doors.
The Lubbock office couldn't meet a requirement that doctors performing abortions must have admitting privileges at a hospital less than 30 miles away.
The Planned Parenthood office in Lubbock hopes an office will open up in Midland and Odessa again.
But if it did, it would be at a new building with a new board.
The state is waiting to hear from an appeals court on whether they can get an emergency order to go ahead and enforce the restrictions while they appeal.
