MIDLAND - The man who stole money from one person and assaulted another has been caught.
23-year-old Jonathan Cervantes was on the run for a little over a week.
Authorities caught up with him on Monday night and he was charged with aggravated robbery.
As NewsWest 9 reported, police were called out to the 2800 block of North Main Street last Sunday.
That's where they found a man lying in the street with severe head injuries.
An investigation revealed that Cervantes had met with a woman to sell her a cell phone for $60.
Instead, he kept the cash and left.
The victim jumped on the hood of Cervantes' car to try and stop him but he stepped on the brake causing the man to fall off the hood.
Cervantes is currently being held on a $200,000 bond.
