ANDREWS COUNTY – We have new information on the chase and shootout that happened on Highway 385 in Andrews County.

DPS Officials tell NewsWest 9, 34-year-old David Baca and 24-year-old Cameron Marson have been charged with aggravated assault against a public servant.

As NewsWest 9 reported on Friday and Saturday, officers were attempting to locate a stolen vehicle. Officials spotted the stolen vehicle at the intersection of Yukon and Highway 385 in Odessa.

The suspects shot at police then continued north on Highway 385 but officers did not return fire due to the safety of people in the area.

Then about seven or eight miles south of Andrews, the vehicle stopped and fired at officers again and officers returned fire injuring one of the two suspects. The second suspect then jumped into another vehicle with two people inside the car and began heading south on Highway 385 towards Odessa.

The hostage vehicle then crossed the median on Highway 385 and stopped in the northbound lanes and the hostages fled for safety.

Negotiations began with the suspect in the vehicle and after a few minutes, the second suspect surrendered.

Both men are still at Medical Center Hospital getting treatment.

Their conditions are unknown at this time.
