BREWSTER COUNTY - Brewster County is going to have some big shoes to fill.
That's after Judge Val Clark Beard announced she will not seek re-election and will resign before the end of her term.
Beard was first elected to serve during the absence of County Judge Sam Thomas back in 1980.
In 1983, she was appointed and subsequently elected to the office of County Attorney.
She was appointed as Constitutional County Judge in 1993 and was elected to a full term a year after.
She has won re-election four times.
In a meeting next Thursday, commissioners will decide what to do to fill the spot.
