In 2007, Ladd became the dean of the school of business.
Ladd was also a Midland attorney and served on the boards of Hillander School in Midland and the Boys Club of Midland.
And former president, Dr. Charles Sorber, died last Friday from a brief illness.
He served as the fourth president of UTPB from 1992 to 2001.
He returned to the University of Texas at Austin where he held multiple positions.
He then served as interim president of University of Texas at Arlington from 2003 to 2004.
Sorber's funeral will be held next Monday in Austin at Westlake United Methodist Church.
