BNSF to begin repairs on damaged US 287 railroad overpass

Posted: Updated:

Amarillo, TX - After a semi-truck carrying an oversized load slammed into the railroad overpass on US 287 near the Moore county line about three months ago, BNSF crews are about to begin the final repairs.

In July, a truck carrying an oversized payload tried to drive under the railroad overpass, but got stuck and damaged the structure.

Monday, October 21, BNSF crews began work on the final repairs which means traffic on the two northbound lanes on US 287 will be diverted around the overpass onto the southbound lanes creating two lane, head-to-head traffic for about three quarters of a mile.

Construction crews expect the work to be completed by late Tuesday, October 22.
