GREENWOOD - October marks breast cancer awareness month and one school district is standing behind one of their own.
On Friday, the Greenwood School District went pink in honor of Christine Wiginton who is battling the disease.
She is a fourth grade teacher at Greenwood.
She expressed how thankful she was to everyone in Greenwood.
"Incredible. It's just absolutely amazing. I've never felt so surrounded by just love, blessings. I'm just surrounded, I'm completely blessed. I know I've got encouragement around me. I have the best support system ever. I just know, Greenwood is amazing and the community here is amazing," Wiginton said.
Each class was sponsored so they could take part in wearing the pink shirts.
They also wrote inspirational messages.
