Students in Presidio ISD are getting the chance to earn college credits while they're still in high school for free.
That's because of the district's partnership with the University of Texas of the Permian Basin to participate in the state's first entirely virtual Early College High School.
A $215,000 grant from the Meadows Foundation in Dallas is funding the project.
The program allows students to earn up to 60 hours of college credits.
They also have access to their own classroom at Presidio High School and get support from school staff.
District leaders teamed up with UTPB to pursue the creation of the program last fall.
