MIDLAND COUNTY - A wanted fugitive considered to be armed and dangerous is still on the loose after he had a four hour standoff with authorities in Midland on Thursday morning.

The Midland County Sheriff's Office received information around 10 a.m. that 37-year-old Joseph Aaron Caddell was in the area of East County Road 75 and County Road 1140.

Caddell is wanted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon by the Midland County Sheriff's Office and other Texas law enforcement agencies.

He was believed to be inside a storage building in the 2500 block of East County Road 75.

But after the Sheriff's Office, Texas Department of Public Safety Aircraft Division, Midland Police Department and the U.S. Marshal's checked the area and building, Caddell was nowhere to be not found.

"We notified SWAT, made entry, there was no one inside, used gas, used a dog, used a robot - everything we could find before we sent the SWAT team in, in order to be safe," Midland County Sheriff, Gary Painter, told NewsWest 9.

Caddell is still at large and considered armed and dangerous.

If you have any information about him you're asked to contact the Midland County Sheriff's Office or Midland CrimeStoppers at (432) 694-TIPS.

NewsWest 9 will continue to follow the latest developments in the case.
