BIG SPRING - A 17-year-old Big Spring High School student was arrested and charged with making a terroristic threat.

Michael Wayne Peterson is accused of threatening to take the lives of two teachers along with harming other teachers and students.

Big Spring Police say they were notified by a School Resource Officer Tuesday that a journal belonging to Peterson was left on a school bus. Police say the journal contained disturbing information that involved graphic detail as to how the student would take the life of two teachers at the high school. The journal also contained a list of names of students and teachers the author wished to harm.

Detectives immediately began searching for the student and he was taken into custody at his mothers house in the 1100 block of Lancaster.

On Wednesday, Detectives went to the high school and began the process of interviewing students who were on the list and then contacting the parents of those students. Right now the investigation continues with the assistance of the High school.

The school will also conduct their own investigation which will be separate from the Police investigation.

Peterson's bond was set at $1,500.00 and he has been released. This investigation is ongoing and no further details will be released at this time.
