BIG SPRING - One man is dead and another man is behind bars charged with murder.

Officers were called out around 12:30 Monday morning to a home on Stadium. That's where they found 26-year-old Carlos Guerrero with a single gunshot wound to the chest. Guerrero was transported to Scenic Mountain Medical Center where he later died.

Witnesses identified 22-year-old Sean Thomas Smith as the shooter and told police that he took off in a Blue older model Ford pick-up.

While additional officers were responding, the suspect vehicle was observed in the 3600 block of W. 4th Street. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and arrested Smith.

A .17 caliber rifle was recovered inside the vehicle and is believed to have been the weapon used in the shooting.

Smith has been charged with murder. The investigation is ongoing.
