Rain Causing Flooding in the Basin

The following intersections are closed in Midland due to flooding:

Loop 250 and 191
Terrell Between Louisiana and Mississippi
Mineola and Ohio
Clay and Cloverdale

The normal low water crossings on Scharbauer are closed as well at Scharbauer and Barber and at Scharbauer and Edwards.

Dump trucks are being staged at Fire Stations 1, 2, and 3 in case of high water emergencies.

Drivers are being asked to avoid these intersections.

FROM TX DOT: Due to recent flooding, BI20 - BS349 underpass and at BI20 frontage road near the exhibit building are closed at this time in Midland.

Highway 191 by Sams in Midland is closed. Please use the service road.

UPDATE: 4:10 PM
Wadley and Midkiff in Midland, near HEB are flooded. We're getting reports of homes in that area flooding. The same situation near Lee High School in Midland. Also, Illinois to Andrews Highway and Big Spring St are completely flooded. Please remember to be safe on the roadways.

MIDLAND - TX DOT is asking drivers to be cautious of high water at various intersections throughout the basin.

Numerous roads are experiencing flooding. Fire officials are also responding to several vehicles that are stuck in the water.

The National Weather Service has issued flash flood warnings for most of the basin.

Both the CAF Airsho and Old Sorehead Trade Days has been canceled for the day.

    30-year-old Aaron Hughes is a driver and paramedic with the Midland Fire Department. He was recently diagnosed with cancer. Aaron tells NewsWest 9 that he had an ulcer on his tongue that wouldn't go away. The doctor performed a biopsy on it and a few days later Aaron found out he had carcinoma.
