MIDLAND - Cinergy Cinemas and Entertainment is set for its grand opening on Friday. The family owned complex is the third of it's kind, but the first in Texas. Owner Jeff Benson, who's originally from Dallas said he loves everything about Texas and that with Midland's "robust economy," it was easy to pick it as the place to "land their next perfect storm."

Comfortable love seats and recliners, beer and wine, and laser tag- those are just a few ways Cinergy is different from the typical theater. Benson and his family tested all the games and attractions first hand including the Sky Walker ropes course.

"It's a lot more pushing a pulling and almost more weight-lifting type so I don't know, maybe we built a fitness center here, I'm not exactly sure," he said.

It's been 28 months in the making but Thursday night marked Cinergy's ribbon cutting. A large crowd gathered, including city officials and public figures. It mainly gave the chance to a VIP group to preview the entertainment complex.

One of the attendees, Ethan Buchanan was dressed in a suit, but he said he was ready to give everything a try.

"I mean I just can't stop. We have a card with eight hours on it, unlimited time to play around, I feel like a kid in a candy shop," he said. "It's the best thing ever built in Midland."

The theater has 11 auditoriums with massive screens and what's called a "Voice of God" sound system.

Benson said his family will be working, serving popcorn and cleaning the theaters on opening night. The theater will be have limited hours during until November and then you'll be able to catch your movies on the biggest screen in West Texas any day from 11 a.m. to midnight.
