HOWARD COUNTY - Howard County Commissioners have agreed to lower their fees for access to county roads.
The fees were brought down from $4,500 to $2,500 on Tuesday.
Growing concern from private land owners and oil and gas representatives triggered the change.
A special meeting was held on Monday night where oil and gas officials told them that other counties look to Howard County as a trend setter on the issue.
Commissioners say the fees were added as a way to help them repair roads they say are damaged by the increase in oil industry traffic.
