Brewster County Commissioners Decide Federal Government Has No Right to Shut Down Big Bend National Park
Staff Report NewsWest 9
BREWSTER COUNTY - Brewster County Commissioners have decided the federal government has no right to shut down the Big Bend National Park and ruin the Brewster economy.
With that said, they met last Thursday night to decide what action to take regarding the park and whether or not they were going to file a restraining order.
We received a letter from a lawyer representing Brewster County and it says, "I'm in dialogue with both the U.S. Attorney's Office and with representatives of the Big Bend National Park in efforts to resolve the county's concerns regarding the park's closure without the necessity of litigation. I believe this is a prudent course of action and hope to report back to you shortly."
