Amarillo gathers toys for Eveline Rivers Christmas Project

Posted: Updated:

The Original Eveline Rivers Toy Run rolled through central Amarillo Sunday as part of the Annual Eveline Rivers Christmas Project.

All day long, the event was set up out at the Rex Baxter building on the Tri-State Fair grounds. Riders, passengers and spectators of the show came out donating hundreds of toys and children's books to be given to less fortunate children in the Amarillo area for Christmas this year.

Something even Eveline Rivers herself said is the gift that keeps on giving. "We have had stories come back, even from 10 to 15 years ago, a child who was on the project and things they say," said Rivers. "They said, 'I was in foster care at that time, your box, your gift was the only thing I had. I'm now old enough to have a child and the doll that you gave me is the doll that I have now given to her'."

If you missed Sunday's Toy Run but would still like to donate, you can do that by visiting EvelineRiversProject.org.

It seems like the Ulta in Odessa just can't catch a break; for the third time they were featured in our Caught on Camera segment, because thieves keep ripping the place off."A guy walks in, walks straight over to the hair straighteners," Susan Rogers with Odessa Crime Stoppers said.
