SNYDER - Drivers in Snyder will have to slow down along parts of U.S. Highway 84 soon.
In a new ordinance, TXDOT officials have requested that the speed limit on the north frontage road close to the intersection of Huffman Avenue be reduced to 45 miles per hour.
They say it's because that area of the highway is not safe.
The ordinance was given the green light by city officials about two weeks ago.
Anyone who violates the new speed limit would have to pay anywhere from $15 to $200 in fines.
It is not known when the speed limit signs will be changed at this time.
