Two Teens Attacked by Pit Bulls in Monahans

MONAHANS - Monahans Police are investigating after two separate pit bull attacks on Monday morning.

Monahans Police, along with Animal Control officers, were called out to the 1000 block of West Third Street in reference to the attacks.

According to police, the first attack happened when a teen was attacked while walking to school. passerby saw the dogs attacking one of the teens and was able to stop the attack by hitting the dogs with a baby stroller. The passerby then took the teen to the hospital to be treated and was later released.

The second attack happened shortly after the first and involved a teen that was participating in cross country practice by running a pre-selected route. The teen was taken to Ward Memorial Hospital and was transferred to Medical Center Hospital and later taken to a hospital in Lubbock.

The two pit bulls have been captured and placed under quarantine.

Charges in connection with the attacks are pending.
