BIG SPRING - The City of Big Spring is bracing for water line breaks this coming winter and they're looking at bringing in outside help to assist with any repairs.
City council members approved an "emergency back-up plan" last week which could have private contractors repairing water line damage for the next few months.
Officials say it's all being done because of severe staffing shortages. They only have five of the 16 workers they need right now.
The two water line breaks last week came as a wake up call to city officials who say they had crews working 24 hours shifts and getting help from other departments.
They say the private contractors will only be called out in emergency situations.
