MIDLAND - An attempt to use counterfeit money at a convenience store in Midland landed one man behind bars over the weekend.
Authorities got the call on Friday morning around 7:30 a.m. from the Jack's Convenience Store on Andrews Highway.
The clerk told them that 33-year-old Brian Lasley had tried to pay with a fake $100 bill.
Lasley tried to take off in his vehicle when deputies found him outside the store but the car malfunctioned.
Deputies seized $600 of the fake cash, along with drug paraphernalia and a useable amount of cocaine.
Criminal records show that Lasley is facing charges for forgery and drug possession.
