MIDLAND - The oil boom has pushed Midland ISD into what's deemed a wealthy category.
The district is now officially a Chapter 41 District under the Texas Education Code.
That means the district is considered wealthy or nicknamed a Robin Hood district.
While it may sound nice it actually means Midland ISD is considered to have too much revenue and must help out other Texas school districts who aren't considered wealthy.
It's estimated that Midland ISD will have to pay over $12.6 million back to the state for equalization.
