The stabbing happened at Ochoa's home on Almond Street.

When officers went inside, McKinney says they found the knife hidden in the home.

Two of Ochoa's children, who are eight and six years old, were also found unharmed.

What makes that even more disturbing that the children were at the home.

According to the Department of Public Safety, Ornelas was convicted of molesting a 13-year-old girl.

He was sentenced to 10 years in prison and is now on parole.

McKinney confirmed to NewsWest 9 on Friday that Ornelas is a registered sex offender.
