Amarillo, TX - An Amarillo man is being held on charges of Intoxicated Manslaughter after being involved in an accident early Saturday morning that left one woman dead.

At about 12:30 Saturday morning, 37-year-old Billy Don Ware of Amarillo was driving south on Pierce Street downtown, when he struck another car, driven by 61-year-old Mary Nancy Encinias headed east on 9th St.

Encinias was taken to a local hospital but later died as a result of her injuries in the crash.

Officers were able to determine alcohol and speed as factors in the accident, and booked Ware into the Potter County Sheriff's Office for Intoxicated Manslaughter.

An autopsy has been ordered for Encinias, and the accident is still being investigated.
