New Phone Scam Reported in Hobbs

HOBBS, N.M. - A new phone scam has been reported in Hobbs and it's mainly targeting senior citizens.

Hobbs Police say the scammer claims to be from the United Publishing Company and they need money to send to an injured family member.

According to the Hobbs News Sun, at last two victims lost $2,000 to the criminals.

Authorities say always check out unfamiliar companies and to talk to older family members about phone and email scams.
