ODESSA- Anna Scroggins has been a drug counselor in Odessa for 13 years. This weekend, she is making a final push to get signatures on her petition to ban the sale of synthetic drugs in Odessa.

"It will give everyone a chance to speak with drug counselors to give them some education and enlighten them on what the drugs can do and are doing," Scroggins said.

It's something that Scroggins knows all too well. Two of her patients, who used synthetic drugs, have died this year. Outlawing it, however, is tricky.

"They are changing the chemicals in it so much, you don't know what you're getting," Carmen Harris, with PBCC Turning Point, said. "That is how they keep selling it, by changing the chemicals and what they're making it out of."

Scroggins believes she has found a way around it.

"Instead of identifying a specific chemical, it says, 'anything that proclaims to be incense or potpourri," she said.
