EDDY COUNTY, N.M. - We're learning new information about the Xcel Energy employee that was electrocuted in Carlsbad this past weekend.
It turns out that he was a survivor of the Columbine shootings in 1999.
Authorities say 30-year-old Matthew Depew died while working on power lines.
It happened on state road 360 in Eddy County.
Several people tried to revive Depew but he died at the scene.
His body has been sent off for an autopsy.
We're told Depew was one of the first callers from inside the school to alert authorities to the shooting.
