A Carlsbad, New Mexico, man driving with a stab wound caused a crash on Sunday that knocked out power to parts of the city.
24-year-old Edward Olivas told authorities that he fell on his knife driving it two inches deep into his ribs.
He claims he got into his car and began driving, dropped his cell phone.
When he tried to reach for it, he plowed into a utility pole.
Olivas' girlfriend, who was in the car before the crash, claims the two were fighting.
