MIDLAND - Midland has been named the best small city for jobs in 2013 by Forbes Magazine.

Midland ranked 2nd in the same survey in 2012. It swapped places with last year's number 1, Odessa. In 2012, Midland saw an employment growth of 8.8 percent, up from a 6.3 increase over the previous year.

The survey ranked 398 metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs) based on employment data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics from November 2001 through January 2013 based on recent growth trends, mid-term growth, long-term growth and the region's momentum. The small cities list included 241 MSAs that have less than 150,000 jobs.
