MIDLAND COUNTY - An accident on Interstate 20 left behind a big mess on Friday afternoon.
The accident happened around 5 p.m. at mile marker 131.
A witness told NewsWest 9 that a red car, which was driving eastbound on Interstate 20, was slowing down due to congested traffic when a blue car, which was following too close, swerved to miss the red car and veered into the median.
The blue car caused a wall of dirt and debris in the air when an oncoming 18 wheeler saw the red car in the outside lane and swerved to miss the red car. The driver of the red car was able to jump out of her vehicle before the 18 wheeler hit her car.
The impact of the accident was so bad that another vehicle, a white pickup truck was hit by the red car causing another accident.
The blue car involved took off from the scene and there's no word yet if officials are looking for that vehicle.
A HAZMAT team was also called out to the scene after witnesses reported that the 18 wheeler was leaking diesel.
In all, no injuries were reported in connection with this accident.
