ODESSA- A local woman was caught red handed snatching a shopper's purse at a grocery store and it looks like she wasn't working alone. Authorities believe she had an accomplice to distract the victim and now police are searching for the duo.

"It's like we talk about every week, there's cameras out there and they're watching," Odessa Crime Stoppers Director, Susan Rogers, said.

Those surveillance cameras were definitely on inside the Wal-Mart off Highway 338 in Odessa. An elderly woman was apparently buying food for her pets when this couple walks up to her. A man in a red shirt stood beside her and police believe he distracted her by dropping some cans from a shelf. A woman in a teal shirt stood behind the victim and seemed apprehensive about taking the victim's purse at first, but finally finds it in her to snatch the purse. She puts it on her shoulder as if it were hers and takes off down the aisle.

"This is a Class A theft," Rogers said.

The pair then left the store, one by one without any groceries. First, the female walks right in front of the security guard and the male follows. Police say they left in a white colored convertible with a black top.

"We have a lot of this going on right now. Be cautious, just take those precautionary measures, don't make it an opportunity for someone to be able to do that," Rogers said.

Police say the victim lost all of her personal belongings, cell phone and even the keys to her car. Authorities describe the woman as having long hair in a pony tail about 5'5," weighing 170 pounds and around 30 years old. The male is described as a white male wearing a baseball hat about six foot and weighs about 300 pounds.

"If you do know who it is, we've got a reward available and we're hoping that the viewers will come around for us again," Rogers said.

Anyone with information on this crime is urged to call Odessa Crime Stoppers 333-TIPS.
