Canyon intersection to become four-way-stop

Posted: Updated:

Starting Monday, the Texas Department of Transportation and the City of Canyon will finish posting stop signs at the intersection of 11th Street and State Highway 217, or 4th Avenue, making it a four-way-stop.

TxDOT officials say the intersection has a history of accidents and close calls and they're hoping by making it a four-way-stop, it will reduce the chances for accidents or severity of crashes. Because the signs will be new to drivers in the area, the signs will also be surrounded by red LED lights to remind drivers to stop.

Again, crews will finish putting up those new signs Monday morning and should have the intersection ready for use by about nine o'clock.
