ECTOR COUNTY – One man is behind bars after a brief pursuit with Ector County deputies.
Officials tell NewsWest 9, they were looking for a black colored Dodge pickup that had been involved in area burglaries when they spotted a vehicle matching the description.
As a deputy was approaching, the vehicle, driven by 20-year-old Fernando Colomo, turned away from him and ran a stop sign on Avenue J.
The deputy then attempted to pull the vehicle over and the vehicle took off.
During the pursuit, Colomo ran his car into a pasture at 8th and Avenue J and ran through a locked gate that swung open.
The pursuit continued onto 10th Street where Colomo ran the intersection of 10th and West Loop 338 where the vehicle crashed into another vehicle traveling westbound.
After the collision, Colomo continued to run from officers but lost control of his vehicle and overturned near Loop 338.
The victim of the crash at Loop 338 and 10th was transported to Medical Center Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Officials say the vehicle turned out not to be the vehicle they were looking for.
Colomo has been charged with evading in a motor vehicle.
