If you're an Xcel Energy customer, don't be surprised if you're paying more for your electricity soon.
Their rates will go up by almost five percent this month, and when September rolls around, they'll go up another two percent.
It's all to help pay for millions of dollars in improvements to their system.
Xcel had asked for a 12 percent increase but they're setting on a seven percent increase right now.
This is not set in stone.
The Texas Public Utility Commission still has to rule on their request and local cities still have to give their stamp of approval.
