MPD Starts New Program to Identify Missing or Abducted Children

Staff Report
NewsWest 9

MIDLAND - The Midland Police Department is starting a new program that will quickly identify children if they're abducted or missing.

The SKID (Safe Kid Identification Disc) program allows officers to make a disc of children's fingerprints, information, height, weight, eye color and more to help families identify their children if they are abducted or missing.

This will provide authorities with the single most useful tool in the recovery of a missing child.

Children are able to participate in the creation of the disc by creating their fingerprints.

Community Relations officers are available to create these discs during events at schools, churches, retail locations, and more.

To learn more about the SKID Program or to sign up, call MPD Community Relations at 432-685-7582.
