CARLSBAD, N.M. - Officials at the Carlsbad Caverns National Park say one of their pipelines needs to be replaced and soon.
The pipeline stretches more than a mile and carries drinking water to the visitor center, employee housing and park offices.
Some sections of the pipeline were damaged by freezing temperatures and a wildfire took out some of its insulation and wooden support blocks.
Park officials will consider several environmentally friendly alternatives to replace the pipeline.
