BIG SPRING - Officials are investigating after a foot pursuit led to the discovery of a body in Big Spring.
Big Spring Police tells NewsWest 9, it all began when officers were called out to the Wal-Mart on Marcy Street in reference to a theft.
When officers arrived, they began a foot chase with 32-year-old Misty Clayton.
Clayton fled into a ravine south of the Wal-Mart in the Kentwood area and after a short pursuit, officers apprehended Clayton.
But the story doesn't end there.
While officers were searching the area where they arrested the female suspect, they found the decomposing remains of a man.
Due to the state of the remains, officials were not able to identify the body.
During the investigation of the body, officials learned that Clayton had stolen property from the pocket of the man.
Clayton has been charged with theft, evading arrest and theft from a corpse.
Clayton is currently behind bars at the Howard County Detention
