ODESSA – We're learning more about a shooting that involved officers late Thursday night in Odessa.

Officers were trying to arrest Zachary Madrid who was wanted for a state parole violation for possession of drugs.

A member of the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and a deputy found him at a house in Odessa.

When they tried to arrest him, Madrid rammed his vehicle into theirs.

That's when one of the officers fired his gun and hit Madrid.

He sped off in his vehicle but then crashed into a ditch, a short distance away.

Madrid is facing charges of aggravated assault on a federal agent.

Madrid was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
