HOBBS, N.M. – One man is behind bars after a shooting on Tuesday morning in Hobbs.
Hobbs Police tell NewsWest 9, they were called out to the 1800 block of East Snyder in reference to a domestic violence call.
When officials arrived on the scene, they found 30-year-old Shamika White with a gunshot wound.
White was transported to Lea Regional Medical Center where she later died.
While on the scene, officers spoke with 34-year-old Marshall Jackson who was the suspect in the call. It was also determined that Jackson was the boyfriend to White.
Jackson was also transported to the hospital in connection with the incident.
An arrest warrant was issued and Jackson was charged with murder, aggravated burglary, tampering with evidence and felon in possession of a firearm.
Jackson is currently behind bars on a $1 million bond.
