ODESSA - A Permian High School coach has turned in her resignation after allegations came out that she was having an improper relationship with a student.
Kathryn Maples was the head girls' swimming and diving coach and a teacher for less than a year.
She resigned on Monday and remains under investigation by ECISD.
A police spokesman said the investigation into the relationship between Maples and a 17-year-old boy had already started before she quit.
An inappropriate relationship between a teacher and a student is considered a felony.
If convicted, Maples could spend up to 20 years in prison.
