ODESSA- Double trouble at an Odessa shopping square where a store was ripped off. The crooks stole a high-dollar item and police hope surveillance video could prove to be priceless in cracking the case. The lights were on during this whole act at Santa Fe Square off 42nd Street.

"In the video, you can see the two guys standing outside. They're kind of mellowing around. I don't know if they're thinking about it or what they're going to do," Odessa Crime Stoppers Director, Susan Rogers, said.

"The glass was shattered, it was broke. He hit the glass hard enough that, glass was all the way up at that door up there," Pepper Hobbies Owner, Donald White, said.

White opened up Pepper Hobbies for hobby car enthusiasts four years ago, he says he's never had a break in.

"I never thought in my wildest dreams somebody would have enough courage to break a window and steal a toy. That's like robbing from your kids," White said.

Police say the two crooks stole his prize possession. A custom HPI 5B radio controlled car. It's valued at $3,500.

"It's a high power RC. It runs off like a 30cc motor. With that been said, we also customized it. We put a bigger exhaust on it. We modified the motor, A arms, everything on it was fully customized. It's no different than going to your car shows and looking at a show car," White said.

Clients come to the store to get their cars fixed, get new tires, or enhance their car. White believes the duo who stole his car may have been customers.

"They took a $3,000 car that is recognizable in the public and they're looking at a state jail felony for burglary of a building for taking that vehicle," Rogers said.

White doesn't know why his shop would be targeted. He says he's just trying to make an honest living. The money lost is not a big concern but the morality of it all is.

"It's about principle. In order for our town to grow, we can't have criminals coming into our businesses. Especially our mom and pops businesses where we're just making it everyday," White said.

Anyone with information on the car or on the suspects, call Odessa Crime Stoppers at 333-TIPS.
