New Information Released Regarding Officer Involved Shooting at Carlsbad, New Mexico Hotel

CARLSBAD, N.M. - NewsWest 9 has received new information regarding the shootout with agents at a Carlsbad Motel on Monday morning.

New Mexico State Police tell NewsWest 9, agents with the Pecos Valley Drug Task Force traveled to the Motel 6 in Carlsbad, N.M. Agents were looks for 35-year-old Wesley Davis of Artesia, N.M., who had an outstanding felony narcotics warrant.

When agents arrived at the Motel, they noticed Davis exiting a room at the motel. Agents then converged on Davis and gave him verbal commands to get Davis to comply. However, as agents were trying to arrest Davis, an altercation ensued and shots were fired by agents and Davis was struck two times.

Davis was transported to Carlsbad Medical Center where he died as a result of the injuries he received.

The investigation into the incident is continuing and anyone with information is asked to contact New Mexico State Police at (575) 392-5580.
