ALPINE - Politics are reaching a boiling point in Alpine.
On Friday, City Council Member Carlos Lujan held a meeting to talk to residents about why he wants to boot Mayor Avinash Rangra from his position.
Lujan has been active in bringing to light the misuse of city funds by certain city employees.
He says they have to put an end to the way to mayor is conducting city business.
"I'm trying to send a message to the people that the mayor is still gathering with council board members as a quorum, he's still doing it. So we got two options here, recall or due process," Lujan said to residents at the meeting.
Mayor Rangra says he's not upset by Lujan's actions, he just sees it as democracy.
This all stems from an audit of the city's finances which showed employees had been misusing city credit cards and checks.
All of those workers have been ordered to pay the money back.
