GARDENDALE - One person has been transported to the hospital after an accident in Gardendale.
The accident happened before lunch on Wednesday in the 1400 block of Hollyhock.
Officials tell NewsWest 9, a white 18-wheeler was headed northbound on Hollyhock when it attempted to make a U-Turn.
While the 18-wheeler was attempting to make the U-turn, a van which was also headed northbound on Hollyhock crashed into the 18-wheeler.
After the crash happened, the 18-wheeler continued to complete the U-turn and left the scene of the accident.
Witnesses tell NewsWest 9, the truck had markings of J&A Trucking.
Authorities are searching for the 18-wheeler. When the 18-wheeler is found, a citation will be issued for leaving the scene of an accident causing bodily injury, which is a possible felony.
The driver of the van was transported to Medical Center Hospital.
There's no word on the driver's condition.
