The battle continues over placing the lesser prairie chicken on the endangered species list.
Members of Congress spoke with Fish and Wildlife officials Wednesday about the issue.
They say listing the species as "threatened" would have a huge impact on the economy in West Texas.
It could end up putting restrictions on both public and private land and it would affect the booming oil industry.
The Fish and Wildlife service can extend the deadline for a final decision by six months if they need more time to study the proposal.
