ALPINE - The Alpine City Manager will get to keep his job for now.

The City Council voted to keep Chuy Garcia on at Tuesday night's meeting.

His job was in question, because of the preliminary results from an audit of the city's finances.

It found employees were mis-using city credit cards and checks.

The city manager contacted the state attorney general's office and the Texas Rangers about doing an investigation.

We're told both are waiting for the final audit report before taking action.

Some people are upset the city has not said how much money was misused.

The city has asked workers to pay all the cash back.

However, we've learned the City Finance Manager, Ricky Chavez must pay back $9,000 in checks that he, reportedly, wrote to himself.
